Mensagem do Instrutor Distrital 2010-11: ADMINISTRE MELHOR SUA VIDA EM ROTARY

Comp. João Henrique da Silva

Instrutor - Distrito 4420 (Gestão: 2010 - 2011)"

Leia 99 anos da Revista "The Rotarian"

NEW GENERATIONS

INTERACT - ROTARACT- RYLA

December 2009

This month, Rotarians, Interactors, Rotaractors, and RYLA participants are celebrating Rotary's commitment to family in honor of Family Month. Continue building the connection between your family and the family of Rotary. Consider bringing along members of your family when you participate in the activities of Rotary's youth and young adult programs, or organize a service project aimed at strengthening families in your community. Other activities to consider include:

  • Sponsoring a child-development seminar for new parents
  • Organizing a father-daughter or mother-son dinner
  • Promoting a family literacy project that emphasizes parents reading to their children
  • Volunteering at a homeless shelter for families
  • Assisting nursing home residents with craft projects they can give to family members
  • Cleaning up a park or recreational area where families can spend time together
  • Providing materials and support to a day care facility or orphanage

End Polio Now stars

December's End Polio Now Star is the Rotaract Club of Washington County, Oregon, USA. In October, club members "panhandled" in the Portland area for four hours to raise US$900 support of Rotary's US$200 Million Challenge to end polio. In addition, hundreds more were donated online. The club expects to triple the funds raised from its first "Panhandling for Polio" fundraiser last year.

If you have an End Polio Now success story to share, e-mail it to rotary's200millionchallenge@rotary.org, and you could be featured in the next issue! Learn more about the campaign and help End Polio Now at www.rotary.org/endpolio.

Interact video contest winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2009 Interact Video Contest!  The Interact Club of Communities-in-Schools at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice, USA, captured the grand prize for their entry "Giving Back Through Interact."  This moving three-minute video shows the transformational impact the program can have on young adults.  The Interact clubs of Shoumen, Bulgaria and Edmonton Centennial, Alberta, Canada shared first place with their videos "What Interact Means to Us" and "The World We Live In," respectively.

The first Interact video contest received 29 entries from Interact clubs or their sponsor Rotary clubs in nine countries.  View the winning video in the November issue of Interactive, Rotary International's online multimedia publication. Watch all of the videos submitted on the 2009 Interact Video Contest channel on YouTube.
